Meaning of “Human Resource Management”

HR is the activity of managing a company’s employees, for example, by employing new workers, training them, managing their employment records and helping them with problems. (https://dictionary.cambridge.org)
HRM can be understood in simple terms as employing people, developing their resources, utilizing, maintaining and compensating their services in tune with the job and organizational requirements with the view to contribute to the goals of the organization, individuals and the society or
HRM is the process of planning, organizing, directing and controlling human activities to achieve the organizational goal and individual goals. (http://www.hrmi.org/ethics.html)
Definition of the HRM
An organization consists of people with formally assigned roles who work together to achieve the organization’s goals. A manager is the person responsible for accomplishing the organization’s goals, who does so by managing the efforts of the organization’s people. (Dessler human resource management 13th edition, p5)
Human resource management is a comprehensive and coherent approach to the employment and development and development of people. (Armstrong’s handbook of human resource management practice, 2014)
HRM is that it is the process of managing people in organization in a structured and thorough manager.

Management process
·         Planning
Its mean, Establishing goals and standards, developing rules and procedures and developing plans and forecasting
·         Organizing
Its mean, giving each subordinate a specific task, delegating authority to subordinates, establishing channels of authority and communication and coordinating subordinate’s work.
·         Staffing
Its mean, determining what type of people you should hire, recruiting prospective employees, selecting employees, training and developing employees, setting performance standards, evaluating performance, counseling employee and compensating employees.
·         Leading
Its mean, getting others to be the job done, maintaining moral and motivating subordinates.
·         Controlling
Its mean, Setting standards, quality standards, production levels and taking corrective action (Dressler’s human resource management,13th Edt.)
